【Beginning】
Beowulf was born into a tribe where everyone was born to fight. They thought that the value of one comes from fighting on the battlefield, and being a warrior was the dream of all in the tribe. At the age of sixteen, every youngster must undergo a trial. By overcoming the trial, one could win glory and join the militia, while those failed to do so could lead any life they wanted except being a warrior...
Since he was young, Beowulf was braver, taller and stronger than anyone his age. Favored by the warriors in the tribe, Beowulf was given the privilege to take on the task before his sixteenth birthday.
Beowulf stood in line with other candidates as they listened to the captain of the militia.
- Captain of Militia: The task will be carried out in the forest.
- Captain of Militia: You have to find out and kill one of the lizard leaders.
- Captain of Militia: You must bring back its body,
- Captain of Militia: so that we know you aren’t boasting to claim credit.
- Captain of Militia: You have a day to complete the task. If you've no questions, let's begin!
【Before Battles】
- Beowulf: We must work together to complete the task!
- Beowulf: There’s a group of lizards here! Beware, everyone!
【End】
Led by Beowulf, the candidates not only defeated the lizards, but also killed two lizard leaders. When the bodies of the lizards were brought back, the tribe was extremely surprised, for there was no candidates managed to kill two lizard leaders in a single task. For the first time ever, all the candidates accomplished the task and were welcomed to the militia.
At night, the tribesmen had prepared myriads of food and a bonfire for celebration. While Beowulf and his teammates were sitting around the fire chatting, the captain of the militia came to him.
- Captain of Militia: How did you manage to kill two lizard leaders in the task?
- Beowulf: It’s easy. You unite the power of all!
- Captain of Militia: The power of all?
- Beowulf: Captain, a soldier alone or a platoon of ten soldiers,
- Beowulf: which one do you think is stronger?
The captain smiled upon Beowulf’s words. He believed the youngster named Beowulf would guide the warriors of the tribe to the pinnacle of the world. After succeeding in the task, Beowulf and the others were trained in the militia. As time flied, the militia became invincible. Later, heroes of all tribes were summoned by Odin. Without any hesitation, Beowulf and his comrades responded to Odin’s call...

【Beginning】
The seal of Nidhogg the Dragon of Poison was released. Knowing that he could never fight it alone, Odin called upon all the heroes of all tribes from all around to join him. It was a difficult task of great danger; therefore no one dared to come despite they knew it was the highest honor to fight alongside Odin. Among heroes of all tribes, Beowulf and his comrades were the only ones who came to Odin without hesitation...
- Beowulf: We’re here at your request, sir.
- Odin the Knight of Runes: Don't you fear death?
- Odin the Knight of Runes: All the other tribes ignore my summons for they’re frightened of death.
- Beowulf: Death itself is not terrifying.
- Beowulf: Instead, dying without glory is the most harrowing.
- Militia Members: Yes! We don't fear death! It’s glory that is everything to us!
- Odin the Knight of Runes: Very well, brave warriors! Follow me, head to Enochian Tower!
【Before Battles】
【Enemy Dialog】
- Beowulf: So this is Nidhogg, the Dragon of Poison that even Odin could not defeat.
- Beowulf: I’ll slay the dragon today!
【End】
After a fierce battle, Beowulf and his comrades survived until Idun’s arrival, so she could cast the spell to subdue Nidhogg. However, Beowulf and the militia had paid a heavy price in the confrontation... To Human, Nidhogg’s blood was poisonous. It would not kill, but would corrode one's mind bit by bit, driving one to insanity, and finally making one a demon. All the warriors who had fighted Nidhogg at close quarters were contaminated by the demonic blood. They were no longer heroes but threats to the realm of men from the moment.
Not only had Beowulf and his comrades lost the glory associated with dragonslayers, but they were also chased after by their former companions. Beowulf, who was the hero of his tribe, had no choice but to start living life without dignity with those who were also contaminated, with the hope of vengeance upon the Gods and serve justice...

【Beginning】
- Tyr: You are contaminated by the blood of the Dragon of Posion.
- Tyr: You will just lose your mind bit by bit and become an insane demon.
- Tyr: You won’t be able to distinguish between friends and foes.
- Tyr: You will know nothing but waving your sword and kill.
Tyr knew that those contaminated by Nidhogg’s blood would be overwhelmed by the blood and become a demon. In order to wipe out the threatening beings, Tyr called for help of heroes from different tribes to eliminate Beowulf and his comrades, who were on the run. Many of Beowulf’s comrades in the old days joined the operation, and were then his enemies.
As the chase was prolonged, Beowulf’s comrades fell one by one. He had been putting his old friends to the sword, for he must kill them to survive. The demonic blood inside had been increasingly influencing him. He could not refrain himself from killing and often slaughtered people running together with him. As his companions died one after another, and he heard that people were praising Odin, Beowulf's hatred to the Gods grew day by day, for he could always hear hymns praising Odin.
Beowulf, accustomed to the status of a warrior and tribal leader, could not stand being pursued like prey who could scarcely retaliate. The indignation and rage of the warriors brought them to Tyr the magistrate...
【Before Battles】
- The Fearless Warrior: My brothers! There’s no reason to hide! We had done nothing wrong!
- The Fearless Warrior: The Gods have threw us in at the deep end!
- The Fearless Warrior: We must serve justice for our own sake.
- The Fearless Warrior: And take back the glory that belongs to us!
【Enemy Dialog】
- Tyr: Contaminated warriors! Are you here for your trial?
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: Bullcrap! We’re here to take back the glory we deserve!
- Tyr: Nonsense! Don’t you even know what you’re talking about?
- Tyr: Well, at least I don’t have to spare time to look for you!
【End】
Even the toughest warriors were no more than men. Although they had obtained the power of demons through demonic blood, they were still no match for the Gods. Beowulf and his comrades spent blood, sweat and tears in the fight against Tyr but still, they were doomed to failure. Lives of many had been taken away during their fight with Tyr, but Beowulf was not ready to resign to his fate yet. He had another plan to suppress the demonic blood inside. Despite the exhortation of his comrades and the fact that Tyr has been chasing behind, Beowulf was looking for someone in Holylight City.
- Idun: Who are you? Stay away from me!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: I’m Beowulf, the leader of the Dragon Crusade!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: I need your power to suppress the demonic blood inside me!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: You’ve no choice. Come with me!
Beowulf kidnapped Idun as he thought she could suppress, or may even remove the demonic blood within them. He firmly believed that once they were free of the demonic blood, they could reclaim their glory as well as the life they used to lead. When Beowulf, with Idun beside him, was about to escape from Holylight City with his comrades, the only thing he could find was his comrades falling everywhere on the ground, being unable to see the arrival of the next day...

【Beginning】
Together with Idun, Beowulf planned to return to his tribe. He wanted to tell his tribesmen so badly that he would soon reclaim his glory and once again become the leader they used to adore so much. For times Idun had told Beowulf that she could not help him, but he just would not listen. He thought it was Idun’s excuse for not offering help.
Idun tried to run away, but none of her attempts succeeded. Every time she thought she could succeed, she would end up captured by Beowulf. Finally, they reach the tribe into which Beowulf was born. Hiding in the bushes with Idun, Beowulf dared not to step onto the settlement despite having dreamt of this moment for countless nights, especially when he remembered that the demonic blood would drive him to insanity...
All of a sudden, several warriors stopped in front of them. They were so close that Beowulf could hear their conversation.
- Young Warrior: I’ve heard that there was a marvellous warrior named Beowulf in our tribe!
- The Pawn of Water: I want to meet him!
- Warrior: Rumors has it that no one could match his fighting skills.
- Warrior: and his tactics were flawless, but...
- Young Warrior: But...?
- Warrior: He was so egoistic that he never listened to the others.
- Warrior: He was also arrogant and he looked down on everyone!
- Seasoned Warrior: If he would ever listen to the others...
- Seasoned Warrior: ...the death of countless warriors in the Holy Temple would be avoidable!
- Seasoned Warrior: The warriors followed Beowulf were the elites of the militia.
- Seasoned Warrior: Our tribe was ruined in one well swoop, unable to rebound...
Listening, Beowulf uttered no words. He clenched his fist so hard that blood was coming out of his palm. Though angered by the warriors’ words, he did not put the blame on anyone else. Recalling the past, he realized what they said was true, that he was no longer the respected leader of his men. He grabbed Idun’s hand and left the settlement without indecisiveness.
Idun could barely follow Beowulf. She could hardly balance herself with her hands tied, while the way in the woods was so rocky. At the moment, Beowulf suddenly turned to Idun. He took out his blade, and cut the ropes tying up idun's hand.
- Idun: Ho... how come...?
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: I don’t need you anymore! Just go away!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: All the glory I’ve got was not real...
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: I thought I had been fighting for them, but I may be fighting for myself.
- Idun: Beowulf... What is the true meaning of “glory” to you?
At this moment, somebody was approaching them on tiptoes in the forest...
【Before Battles】
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: Beware of the demons!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: Stay behind me if you don’t wanna die!
【Enemy Dialog】
- Blair the Witch of Rotten Woods: I smell the golden apple, don’t I...?
- Blair the Witch of Rotten Woods: I am sorry, but can you give me that? My boss wants it.
- Idun: There’s no one who could control the golden apple, except me!
- Blair the Witch of Rotten Woods: Really?
- Blair the Witch of Rotten Woods: Then please come along with me and explain that to my boss in person.
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: I brought her here and I must return her to her home!
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: You wanna take her with you? Do that after you’ve beaten me!
【End】
As Blair disappeared in the woods without a trace, her venom was still rampaging through Beowulf, collapsing him. His awareness of the truth deprived him of the power put forward by the demonic blood. Idun rushed to him hoping to cure him, yet she was proved icapable of doing so. The only thing she could do was seeing him die as his power slowly faded away.
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: Throughout my life,
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: it turns out that you’re the only one I managed to protect ...
- Beowulf the Dragonslayer: Let me die as a man! This maybe the only glory I can grasp at last...
- Idun: I will never forget you!
Closing his eyes feebly, Beowulf, who was no longer berserk, could finally rest in peace. Idun purified his body, so that his name would be praised among the warriors, and his story of bravery was made known to everyone. Though once chased by the Gods, he was well-respected by the warriors as the hero of men.
- Idun the Everlasting Priest: The time elapsed shall witness the blood shed by the hero.
- Idun the Everlasting Priest: The contamination of the heart is more harmful than that of the body.
- Idun the Everlasting Priest: Though he was corrupted by the demonic blood,
- Idun the Everlasting Priest: Beowulf still insisted on preserving the glory in his heart...
